Do Nothing
Useful technique to examine the consequences of doing nothing.
Goal
The goal is to get out of a situation in which a problem is to be solved but people are stuck and don't know what else to do. The solution can be doing nothing which has several effects that are listed below in the section "Procedures".

During
We often make the assumption that something must be done about a particular issue / problem, but what happens if we "do nothing"?
Stop and think for a while, first alone, about the outcomes if nothing were done.
Then share with the group, capturing the consequences of doing nothing on a flipchart.
Discuss the implications as a group. What insights does this give us about what we need to do about this problem?
This usually leads to one of three possible outcomes;
1. The problem doesn't need to be solved
2. You will have a better idea of the benefits of solving the problem
3. You will have generated some alternative problems to solve
