I have started using the phrase: "My greatest hope for this session is...." and have found this positive orientation helpful in shifting mindsets toward an optimistic stance.

I have used this with small and large groups before the event or at the beginning of the session. I set up a Mural board and sent it to participants before the session. This serves to kick start engagement, help the facilitator in their preparation, and an opportunity for participants to use the online tool that may be used in the session.

Can use stickies for people to answer the questions simultaneously and then post them. Then read them out. This could save time.
