The Rules of Engagement invite you to open up to learn from each other’s ideas, and to extract insights. It is not focused on problems and criticism, but on identifying positive elements and opportunities. This creates a broader solution space where judgment is postponed until the last minute.
Following the principles of the rules of engagement, participants have to speak with intention, listen attentively, and building upon each other’s ideas and arguments. Participants complement each other, instead of discussing with each other.

Principles of the rules of engagement
1. Participants have to speak with intention, focus on what is important.
2. Listen attentively by asking questions like “why?” and “what do you mean exactly?”.
3. Build upon each other’s ideas and arguments. Participants complement each other, instead of discussing with each other. Use sentences like “Yes, and…”.
